Center for Legal Research and Resource Development (CeLRRd) organized a 1-day training on ‘Pedophilia: Concepts and Concerns’on in Pokhara. The training contributed to build understanding on pedophilia, national and international laws on child sexual abuse, problems and challenges to prosecute pedophiles in Nepal and judicial trend on providing justice to victim and survivor children on these types of cases.
Altogether 25 individuals including officers from Nepal Police, court officials, defense lawyers, and civil societies participated in the training. Four papers were presented in the program. Advocate Rabindra Bhattarai presented on ‘Conceptual Understanding of Pedophilia’. Assistant Professor at Kathmandu School of Law Mr. Kapil Aryal presented on ‘National and International Laws on Pedophilia’. Joint Attorney General Kiran Poudel presented on ‘Problems and Challenges on Prosecution of Pedophilia’ and Judge of Morang District Court Honorable Tek Narayan Kunwar presented on ‘Judicial Trend on Providing Justice to Victim and Survivor Children on Crimes of Pedophilia’.
Judge of Kaski District Court Honorable Ram Prasad Oli moderated the sessions on ‘Conceptual Understanding of Pedophilia’, ‘National and International Laws on Pedophilia’ and ‘Judicial Trend on Providing Justice to Victim and Survivor Children on Crimes of Pedophilia’. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kedar Rajaure moderated the session on ‘Problems and Challenges on Prosecution of Pedophilia”.
