On 21 July 2009, CeLRRd organized a one-day district level interaction program on community mediation in Dang district. The main objectives of this program were to make local stakeholders including representatives of governmental and non governmental bodies, political parties and civil society members aware about informal justice system gain their commitment for optimum support, and also broaden coordination with the concerned stakeholders. Altogether 34 participants including Chief District Officer, Local Development Officer, District Attorney, Revenue Officer, Registrar of District Court, Section officer of District administrative office, Coordinator of civil society Dang, President of Nepal Bar Unit, heads of different non-governmental organizations, political leaders and media personnel were present. Chief guest of the program was Mr. Rishiram Dhakal, CDO, Dang who expressed his commitment to support community mediation as it was an important tool for bringing peace in societies and also urged others to do the same to control different kinds of conflicts prevalent in societies. Mr. Madan Pokharel highlighted the objectives of the programme and introduced CeLRRd. Afterwards Mr. Chetraj Bhatta, Program Coordinator of community mediation focused on its importance and relevance. Likewise, other participants also put forward their views regarding mediation. Media personnel also asked if they could support for the promotion of community mediation in Dang.
