It had been already five years to the marriage of Umesh Pashwan of Ramganj , Belchhariya ,Sunsari district and Anita Pashwan of Dadarbairiya VDC, Morang district. They had spent first few years of marriage happily. Umesh loved and used to help Anita very much. But after some years, everything changed. Her in-laws started rebuking her all the time though she used to do all the household chores; she was busy all the time. Umesh also could not do anything to change the situation. Slowly he too supported his parents raising hands to beat her which continued for around two years.
In between she gave birth to a child but even the violence from the family did not stop. Instead they kicked her out from the house. Then she went to her parents’ home at Dadarbairiya. Many people suggested her to seek divorce but she did not listen much. As she heard of solving community disputes through mediation center, she dropped an application at Dadarbairiya mediation center.
Both families discussed rigorously. Umesh’s family accused Anita for not behaving like a good daughter-in-law. On the other side, she expressed that she was genuinely a victim of domestic violence. To correct the situation, both reached to some points of consensus. They took Anita back to home, and behaved well with her. Anita also provided due respect to her in-laws and Anita and Umesh restarted their happy conjugal life.
As Dadarbairiya mediation center helped a family from breaking relations and provided justice to a woman victimized for a long time, these days Dadarbairiya people have started saying that if you want justice, you should go to Dadarbairiya mediation center. She says that she is very thankful to God for not listening to others suggesting divorce and went to mediation center instead for justice. Doing this, she could also ensure a good future to her child.
Bharat Psd. Rajbanshi, Bimali Singh and Narayan Rajbanshi mediated this case.
