Kalpana Tharu and Bikram Tharu (Name changed) of Urlabari, Morang tied their conjugal knot six years ago. Following their marriage, they lived in a joint family for few years and then started to live separately with their two children, a daughter and a son. Time passed by, and then Bikram left for foreign employment envisioning their bright future. Kalpana was enthusiastic and hopeful at the same time that they could live a better life and spend for their children’s education and well being.
However, once separated, there started misunderstanding between the couple. The chasm between their relationship got gradually wider when her in-laws started to complain to Bikram that she had been misusing his hard-earn money. Provoked, Bikram started blaming her for it. He didn’t even listen to her excuses. Once returned, he started to inflict physical and mental torture on her every day.
As time passed by, the victim approached a mediation centre located at Urlabari and registered her complaint. Once mediation process started, she got an opportunity to speak up. Bikram too knew and realized that his money was spent for their children’s treatment rather than being misused by his wife. Also, it was revealed during the mediation that she had bought a piece of land with the money he sent her from abroad.
Hence mediation resolved conflict by erasing misunderstanding between them an opportunity to begin their happy conjugal life.
