2070 Bouddha Ja (name withheld), aged 9 lives in Sinamangal in Kathmandu. She is from dalit community whose father was then imprisoned in drugs case. One day, Dipak Tamang, an adult person living next doors, whom she called uncle took her away from home saying he would teach cycling to her, at around, four o’clock on Sept 30, 2013. Though her maternal uncle Bishal pariyar also accompanied her, Dipak was successful to influence him and took the girl alone at the bank of Bagmati River by the side of Sinamangal, Kathmandu. It was heavily raining, and, with the intension of raping her, Dipak told her to enter into the huge hume pipe left abandoned there. The innocent girl entered into that pipe with Dipak who then started to take off her underclothes and rub her body parts. She was shocked and frightened; however, she could manage to escape from there. She ran away to her room, totally wet and then told everything to her mother. Her mother terrified with this, went to KMC Hospital who then called Bouddha police. The perpetrator was arrested. It was then referred to CeLRRd. She seemed very terrified and even the looks of any male could generate fear in her. As CeLRRd counseled her, she was determined to fight against him. The victim’s family was first influenced and then threatened to become hostile. However, with the family’s conviction to fight against violence, CeLRRd was able to play a lead role in witness statement verification and final hearing at Kathmandu District court. Finally, he was convicted to five years in prison.
