On 25 April, 2015, a 7.8 Magnitude earthquake and subsequent aftershocks killed more than 8000 people and injured more than twice as many. Hundreds of thousands of people, from 14 central districts were made homeless with their entire villages flattened.
Complementing to the governmental and other non-governmental organizations’ contribution to relief distribution to the earthquake survivors, CeLRRd, in coordination with local administration and security institutions, too distributed relief packages in Padam Pokhari area of Hetauda Sub-metropolis, Thahanagar Municipality, and Aambhanjyang, Bhainse, Nibuwataar, Bhimphedi, Tistung and Sarikhet VDCs of Makwanpur district. Community Mediators’ Network and CeLLRd jointly facilitated the relief distribution. Similiarly, CeLRRd, jointly with Prayas India distributed such packages in Melamchi municipilaty of Sindhupalchok district.
The distributed relief packages included infant foods, sanitary items, trauma care, dry food items, tents, white rice and tarpaulins.
